Adult inpatient program
If you have symptoms of a mental health disorder and need help, acute inpatient treatment can offer immediate stabilization. This level of care is appropriate when mental health symptoms pose a risk to your safety or sense of well-being. Providing a supportive healing environment is key for adults with symptoms of:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Bipolar disorder
- Psychosis
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Addressing co-occurring substance use disorders alongside mental health conditions is part of your treatment at Geisinger Behavioral Health Center, if needed. Together with your care team, you can break the cycle of dependence that can worsen your symptoms.
Every adult in our inpatient treatment program receives an individualized care plan that may include medication management, basic medical care, and group, individual and experiential therapy sessions. Therapy sessions are guided by principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI) and a 12-Step approach to care.
The average length of stay for adults at this level of care is five to seven days.
Adolescent inpatient program - coming fall of 2024
Young people ages 13 to 17 who have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis or posttraumatic stress disorder can find immediate intervention in Geisinger Behavioral Health Center’s comprehensive inpatient program.
Our inpatient treatment program for adolescents offers 24/7 supervision in a safe therapeutic environment. You’ll receive a customized treatment plan that may include basic medical care, medication management, and group, individual and experiential therapy sessions. Group therapy is particularly valuable for this age group because it provides an opportunity for community and peer support. Therapy sessions may cover topics such as coping skills, goal setting, forming strong relationships and healthy communication skills.
The typical length of stay for adolescents at this level of care is five to seven days.
